Hello, and welcome to the new Belsambar.net!
Belsambar.net is a new MZX and ZZT community site that focuses on easing collaboration between people, making game creation both easier and more fun. It focuses on being created by its people and moderated by its administration, instead of the other way around.
For more about what we plan to do with this site, read on.
One might say "What do you have thats different from DMZX?"
Great question.
The answer? As of yet, not much, however these features are planned (and at least one of them will be implemented fairly soon!)
- a "Media Sink", a place for registered members to store images, applications, text, videos, and music which does not violate copyright law (i.e. which is public domain, open-source, or to which you own the copyright) for later hotlinking. Content in the media sink will be regularly scanned by myself and any other admins for copyright violation and dangerous content. TASTEFUL material of 18+ nature allowed, please upload in "18+" section. You may use your definition of taste, but know that the one I will most likely be using fits well with the one used in DigitalMZX's Creation Corner, so if you wouldn't post it there, don't post it here.
- Member Photo/Art Galleries
- "Etc" submission. It always struck me as a tad odd that DigitalMZX never picked up Zeuxworld's old feature where one was able to submit not only games, but charsets, palletes, sound effects and modules. I don't expect this to be used TOO often, but perhaps the module one will be.
- User Created Content. As of the moment, the only part of the main DMZX page the average user can add to is news stories and informal game reviews. On belsambar, you will be able to add for approval news stories, formal reviews (in addition to approval-less informal reviews), previews, interviews, FAQ entries, links, and anything else your little heart desires. Of course, all submissions will need to be approved by an admin first, this is necessary to prevent spam and abuse. However, this will allow Belsambar to be defined not by its administration, but by its userbase. I'm very excited about the possiblities of this.
We're open to suggestions (including "f**k off", though we aren't open to accepting that one). Also, administration positions are currently open, though I won't lie and say I'm not going to use outright favoritism tempered by a bit of preconcieved notions on who is the best admin to select from candidates.
